It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero is from LeRoy, NY.  From our United States Army, it’s Kristy Prine!

Kristy served in the Army from 2003-2005 with the 123rd Main Support Battalion of the 1st Armored Division based in Germany. She was a medic. She did a tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where her time was spent as a field medic in an evacuation platoon.  She met her husband just prior to discharge from the military and was married in 2006.  She went back to school after her discharge from the military and obtained a Bachelors in Science in Nursing from SUNY College at Brockport graduating in 2010. She was a Psychiatric Nurse at Strong Memorial Hospital for 5 years before leaving that position for a position in the Behavioral Health Care Line of the VA Western NY Healthcare System in Buffalo. She served in a role at the VA since June 2015, and was awarded the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Nursing Excellence Award in 2017.  She is currently working with staff at WNY Heroes Pawsitive for Heroes program to train her black lab, to serve her as a PTSD Service Dog.

This week, we are honored to name Kristy Prine our Hometown Hero of the week!
