In the future, could we see bars and liquor served at wakes when going to honor our loved ones have passed?

There is a bar who applied for a liquor permit in order to be a "one stop shop". The funeral home wants families to be able to go to the wake, honor their loved ones and be able to host a reception all at the same location.

The current law in New York State is that you cannot serve beer, wine or liquor at the site of a funeral home, but in Ohio that are starting to make that happen. I mean, why not?

Now, we know this is a touchy subject, but there are people who are in Ohio right now where funeral homes are starting to have booze and they are loving it. I mean lets be honest, even the people who are not needing to go to a funeral home right now are loving knowing that when they have to go, it is there.

Right now, at least in New York York State, it is such a process when trying to honor your loved one. It is actually a lot of planning and sometimes if your loved one who has passed does not pre-plan anything, it can be a lot.

If you are in charge of organizing, you have to:

  • arrange a funeral home to have a wake
  • figure out where they want to be buried
  • decide if cremation is right
  • drive to the burial site
  • set up a reception for the family and guests

Some people even do more than that. But, imagine if there were funeral homes where you could just go to one single place and never have to get in and out of a car and all of the elements were right one site.
