His name is Mike Bauer.  He played on the Bishop Timon St. Jude football team this season and he's among 50 national nominees for the High School Football Rudy Awards.  The Rudy Awards are named after Daniel "Rudy" Ruettiger, an undersized walk-on football player who managed to earn a shot on the Notre Dame football team in 1975.  His story inspired the  1993 movie "Rudy" - a must see film for any sports fan.  Mike Bauer is 5-foot-2, 130 pounds but didn't let that hold him back.  He was an inspiration to his team and his coaches and that's why he is among thius year's nominees.

The 50 nominees will be reduced to a top 12 at the end of this month and the Final 4 $25,000 scholarship award winners will be announced January 18th.  To vote for Mike and to check out the stories of the other nominees click on the link.    High School Football Rudy Awards
