You just never know what you're going to learn.  I was watching Wednesday's episode of Criminal Minds and toward the end of the show they mentioned Lockport, NY.  Two agents were reminiscing about a time in "upstate New York"....."Lockport where the only time it doesn't snow is the 4th of July." They also mentioned sledding down "rattlesnake hill".  I'd never heard of rattlesnake hill.

I didn't even know Lockport had rattlesnakes.  Turns out there is a "rattlesnake hill" in Lockport.  From all the calls we got this morning on the Breakfast Club it's in an area approximately near West Jackson St. and Plank Rd in the vicinity of the water treatment plant in the northern part of Lockport.

Looking at history books early settlers had to not only contend with hundreds of trees and dense brush but huge numbers of rattlesnakes in the area.  That's where the area gets its name.  Obviously the writer is familiar with the area. I'll have to look more into the story.  You're never too old to learn something new.
