It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero is from Lockport, NY.  It’s United States Coast Guard BM2 Brendan Smith!

Brendan has served in the Coast Guard since 2012. According to his nomination he has saved many lives patrolling the coast. While serving in Florida he was on a cutter which put him on 7 month deployments to South America. After that he was sent to Chicago to patrol Lake Michigan. While there, he accomplished many saves and was awarded “Sailor of the Year.” He applied to go off to Bahrain in the Middle East and was gone for a year.  He’s now back in the U.S doing what he does best out in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is always looking to do more and to help people.  He just got back from his year-long deployment and already wants to go back and do it again. He does not do it for any recognition and he is so humble about everything he does.

This week, we are honored to name Brendan Smith our Hometown Hero of the week!
