There has been a lot of talk about plastic grocery bags lately in New York State as they've essentially been banned, but there is still a great use for those bags.

This morning, I found out about Mats For A Mission.  They are a non-profit that takes those plastic grocery bags that you store under your sink or in your closet and makes them into mats for the homeless.

They really are incredible mats.  I wish you could feel them.

They provide a barrier between the ground and the person who needs them to sleep on and yes, they're almost indestructable.

I was able to talk with Gail Potter about the mission and what you need to do to get these grocery bags to them:

If you would like to donate, they will accept bags from:

Tops
Wegman’s
Target
Walmart
Dollar General
Kohl’s
Valu Home Center
-OR-
Any similar GROCERY STORE BAGS

PLEASE - NO DEPARTMENT STORE BAGS OR ORANGE/BLUE NEWSPAPER BAGS

The bags must be clean, smoke & pet hair free!!

To find out more, follow them on their facebook page.
