Well, we know that this was coming and Wegmans has finally set a date.

They have announced that on Monday, January 27 you will no longer see single-use plastic bags in any of their stores. Officials say that every home takes on average 1,500 plastic bags home a year and Waste Management says that only 1% of them are actually recycled.

The statewide ban on all plastic bags begins March 1st.

According to the Wegmans website:

Paper grocery bags will continue to be available, however 5 cents will be charged for each bag. Wegmans’ goal is to convert all customers to reusable bags, thereby eliminating the need to charge".
