After getting rained out on 5/23, members of the Lockport Fire Department, IAFF Local 963 together with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will fan out across the Lockport area and try again, with boots in hand, for the fire fighters' annual Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS and related life-threatening diseases. The rescheduled date is tomorrow Wednesday, June 6th at Locks Plaza and other nearby locations from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. So be aware for the morning commute in Lockport tomorrow morning.

The fill the boot campaign has existed for more than six decades, where fire fighters have stood on the front lines to fuel MDA’s mission to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases that take away the ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.

Funds raised through the 2018 Lockport Fill the Boot drive empower families with life-enhancing resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and Care Centers, including the MDA Care Centers at DENT Neurologic Institute and Buffalo General Medical Center.

They also help give more than 60 local kids the opportunity to experience the best week of the year where anything is possible at MDA Summer Camp at no cost to their families at the Rotary Sunshine Campus this June.
