It was a bust weekend for firefighters and rescue personnel in West Seneca this past weekend. A man had to be pulled from the creek in after a slip and fall.

According to a report,

At approximately 16:50 hours on Saturday March 13th Reserve Hose Company and West Seneca Police were dispatched to a report man who slid down a hill possibly into the water in Cazenovia Creek near Southgate Plaza.

The 18 year old victim was pulled from the water and is expected to be OK.

The warmer weather and the spring are just about here and that means plenty of people will be back outside and hiking or walking. It is a good idea to stay on marked trails and in areas that are familiar.

This is just another example of the bravery and skill of our local emergency crews. There is always a need for volunteers to become members of local fire companies. It is a great way to give back to the community and help your neighbors. Just about every company has a Facebook page and website. If you are interested, reach out or keep an eye out for future open house events.

Erie County has a bunch of volunteer companies. Perhaps there is one that is near you and you didn't even realize it. Click the link HERE to see the list!!
