
Massive Bacteria Outbreak Impacting New York State?
There is a mid-summer listeria outbreak that has caught the attention of health officials nationwide and here in New York State, many are keeping an eye on as well.
The summer is flying by! Before you know it, the fall routine will begin and the kids will be back at school! A popular lunch food is the culprit for the latest concern from the CDC.
If you eat deli meats, take a look at the recent post from the CDC and the specific meat that is being monitored.

According to their information on "X", formerly known as Twitter, the CDC notes that:
The Center for Disease Control mentions that meats should be cooked thoroughly and to a certain, safe temperature.
"LISTERIA OUTBREAK: 28 people are sick, with 2 deaths, in 12 states. Do not eat meats you get sliced at any deli counter, unless it is reheated to an internal temperature of 165°F or until steaming hot".
The Mayo Clinic indicates that Listeria is not easily killed off: "Listeria bacteria can survive refrigeration and even freezing".
Be safe and smart with the food you eat this summer. The beauty of social media and the 24 hours news cycle is that we are more aware of the potential issues and dangers with the food we consume.
