October is nearly over, and schools have been in session for weeks here in New York State. A recent reports indicates that a massive amount of traffic tickets were handed out in one area of the state that should have been avoided.

The fall has been filled with sunshine and above average temperatures. The clear skies and gorgeous afternoons have been great for walking or riding a bike to school. But there are thousands of students who are required to take a bus for whatever reason. It may be distance or other reason why they need transportation provided for them.

Here in New York State, there are dozens of laws related to safety and in particular school bus safety when it comes to being on the road with them in another vehicle.

According to multiple reports, there were a large number of tickets issued to drivers in early October who failed to obey one of the most important traffic safety laws.

Reports show that over 2000 drivers were given tickets for passing a stopped school bus in October.

Buffalo has been all over the news for the new school bus cameras that are in place to watch for reckless drivers. When a bus stops, the arm comes down and the cameras pop on. If a driver fails to yield to the cameras, a ticket is issued to them.

Be safe this fall and especially the next few days as kids will be all over walking house to house for Halloween.
