This weekend will be a snowy one for parts of New York State, with several advisories and warnings in place for parts of the state. Some parts of the state could see snow measures in feet, not inches, as Lake Effect snow is expected to continue through early next week.

Lake Effect Snow Warning In Western New York

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a Lake Effect Snow warning this weekend for Chautauqua, Cattaraugus,  and Southern Erie counties. Snow totals of up to 12 inches are possible, and wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour could impact travel around the area.

Lake Effect Snow Warning In Northern New York

Areas East of Lake Ontario are also under a Lake Effect Snow warning this weekend. The warning has been issued for Oswego, Jefferson, and Lewis counties. An additional 7 to 14 inches of snow is possible, with wind gusts of up to 35 miles per hour that could cause white-out conditions that will impact travel.

Travel this weekend could be impacted by the snow and wind across the entire state. Overall, a general hazardous weather outlook is in place for much of the state.
