Massive, Statewide Battery Ban For New York State
There is a new law that is being signed by New York State Governor Hochul that will remove certain batteries from shelves in the Empire State.
The summer is nearing the halfway point and across New York State, people are riding E scooters and E bikes that require a certain battery and certain type of charger that has a history of fire and other dangerous incidents.
New York State and New York City have been hard at work at making changes to how these batteries are used and which of them are allowed to be sold.

According to multiple reports, New York State is doing away with various lithium batteries.
One of bills that is being pushed forward sets one battery standard that retailers must meet, doing away with refurbished ones.
In a post on "X", formerly known as Twitter, New York State Governor Hochul stated that: "No one should fear that the e-bike charging down the hall could explode at any moment. No firefighter should have to risk their lives because a manufacturer cut corners to make an extra buck".
If you or your child has an E bike or scooter, be safe and smart when it comes to the charger and handling of the battery.
