I saw this this morning on abcnews.com. I had no excuse as a kid to have bad math grades. Other than the fact I was lazy and doing long drawn out math was boring to me. But some kids today may have a legitimate excuse for poor scores in math!According to the study....

Kids who were obese throughout the study period performed worse on math tests in the first through fifth grades than children who were not obese
My guess is that these kids have emotional issues or concentration issues as a result of their weight problem that may hinder their focus and their performance. Childhood obesity is on ongoing problem and beyond the physical concerns, it is now necessary to monitor kids weight for so their schooling doesn't suffer.
