It happens all the time.  People accidentally leave their kids in their car.  It seems like something simple to remember but often, people remember too late that their kids were strapped in the back.  It can be deadly.  But thanks to an update to the navigation app "Waze" it might never happen again.

According to the Department of Meteorology & Climate Science at San Jose State University, on average there have been 37 U.S. child heatstroke fatalities per year since 1998.

However, according to ABC, the app "Waze" hopes to move that number to zero with its latest update.  The app will remind you when you reach your destination that your kids are with you so that you don't leave the vehicle without them.  The new feature is called "Child Reminder" and it became available on Thursday.

"We're constantly listening to our users' requests and concerns, as well as paying attention to the news and looking into issues drivers face," said Waze's Head of Brand, Julie Mossler.

The feature is pretty simple.  If you will have kids in your car, you opt in on the app and enter your destination.  When you arrive at that destination, the app will remind you to remove your kids from the car.

Do you think it will work?
