I'll never understand how anyone who has ever earned over a million dollars in a year could possibly go bankrupt.  I just can't fathom it.  But then again, I've never been in that situation.

Now it looks like bankruptcy could cause the backup quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers to lose his superbowl rings.

Our city can't seem to win a Superbowl Ring.  Maybe we could buy one!

According to Profootballtalk.com , Charlie Batch has played 13 seasons in the NFL and was given a $13 million signing bonus when he signed with the Detroit Lions.  So how do you lose that much money?

He owns a real estate company that had 25 properties turned over to a court-appointed receiver after defaulting on a $1.15 million mortgage.  Now the company that he owes has the right to grab up some of the property that he put up for collateral.

To put a little icing on this cake, he's one of the guys that are representing the players in the ongoing labor negotiaions with NFL owners.

The Pittsburgh Tribune has the story.
