According to Governor Cuomo, the New York State Fair is unlikely to happen in 2020.

The governor explained that unless the entire state is back open, there's a chance people would travel from regions that are still closed, which could put fair attendees at risk of getting sick.

Right now, the fair is scheduled to run from August 21st through September 7th.

This is sad on many levels. Especially for the families and kids who have worked so hard raise animals for show and auction. The concerts were always great and it was one of the best ways to wrap up a summer in New York.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM ERIE COUNTY FAIR ORGANIZERS:

Yesterday, during New York State’s daily COVID-19 update, Governor Andrew Cuomo made remarks regarding the holding of mass gathering events this summer such as the New York State Fair. The Erie County Agricultural Society, sponsors of the Erie County Fair, is currently processing the Governor’s statement as how it might pertain to the future of the 181st Erie County Fair scheduled for August 12 -23, 2020. We have yet to receive official correspondence from the Governor’s Office with specific guidelines or restrictions to the hosting of mass gathering events. The Board of Directors of the Erie County Agricultural Society will be meeting to discuss this fluid situation once further guidance is available.

Many of the county fairs will probably follow the lead of the NYS Fair and that would be unfortunate as there are some great acts lined up. Including Justin Moore at Cattaraugus County.

We will keep you posted on their statues.
