With a snowstorm expected to dump over a foot of snow across Western New York this weekend, the New York State Police are asking for help from local motorists.

The State police are asking that people avoid unnecessary travel this weekend because of the winter storm.

State Troopers will be out on duty during the storm to offer help if drivers do need it.

According to several weather reports, snow and high winds could reduce visibility to almost 0% and could cause roads to become snow-covered and slick.

If you have to travel, State Troopers remind you to give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
