The fire at Tractor Supply in Alden could have been a lot worse if it wasn't for Deputy Retzlaff from the Sheriff's office. He happened to driving down Broadway and spotted smoke coming from behind the building. He followed the smoke a discovered that a loading dock rubber bumper was on fire.

According to the Sheriff's office he alerted store employees and then,

"used two separate fire extinguishers to suppress the fire, and a volunteer fire company from Alden arrived and checked the building.  Firefighters did not find any structural damage and the scene was cleared."

The cause of the fire is still unknown but thanks to Deputy Retzlaff's observation and quick thinking a more serious situation was avoided.
