For a week at least, Buffalo Bills fans can enjoy seeing their team atop the AFC East.  Yes fans, while New England lost and Miami's game was postponed because of the weather in South Florida, the Bills are in first place following their 21-12 win over the New York Jets.

Sunday's season opener went pretty much how a game between two rebuilding teams could be expected to go.  But the Bills emerged with more big plays and solid defense against a team that some experts say is the worst team in the NFL.

LeSean McCoy ran 22 times for 110 yards and added 5 catches for 49 yards. Fullback Mike Tolbert added another 42 yards on the ground along with a touchdown.  Tyrod Taylor completed 16 of 28 passes for 224 yards with one-yard touchdowns to Andre Holmes and Charles Clay.  Clay finished with 4 catches for 53 yards.

The Bills finished with 408 yards in offense while defensively the Bills held the Jets to 214 total yards and only 11 first downs.  The Bills intercepted Jake McCown twice.  The Bills two new free agent safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde came up with the interceptions in their first game with the Bills.

It was a perfect day for football and a number of the newer players with the Bills were impressed with the passion of Bills fans.  Buffalo fans always set the bar in terms of tailgating and it does get noticed.  When it was mentioned to some of the players after the game they just smiled and the feeling was they were glad their cheers were for them.

The Bills now set their sights on the Carolina Panthers next week in Charlotte.
