I don't think it matters what age you are -- toy stores always bring out the kid inside someone. I still have old toys that make me feel like a kid again and that's a big reason why toy stores hold a special place in people's hearts.

So it's a sad day when a popular toy store in Buffalo says goodbye after 25 years of serving Western New York.

According to WKBW, the TreeHouse Toy Store on Elmwood Ave. will be closing its doors soon for the final time.

Opened in 1996, TreeHouse has been a popular toy stop in Buffalo's Elmwood Village.

Here's the goodbye they posted on Facebook on Tuesday.

"We have been blessed for 25 wonderful years of being able to be a part of this community and play a small part in the lives of the children, the parents, the grandparents, the aunts and uncles, and all those in our community who just love fun, and value toys, and value play," said co-owner Gaetana Schueckler.

There is a closing sale going on at TreeHouse right now.

My aunt lives near the Elmwood Village and my grandparents lived by Elmwood for many years, so I've spent quite a bit of time there growing up (along with going to Buffalo State College). Local businesses like TreeHouse are what makes the Elmwood Village so awesome. It's a sad day for retail in Buffalo.
