Tony Stewart is the defending race winner, but Jimmie Johnson is the points leader heading into the final three races in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. Johnson moved past Brad Keselowski and took a 2-point lead in the Cup standings with his victory last Sunday at Martinsville Speedway. Johnson took the lead with 14 laps left and held on for his fourth win of the season. It’s also his sixth top-10 finish in the last seven races.

It’s off to Texas Motor Speedway this weekend where Johnson has had a lot of success. In 18 starts he has one win and 13 Top-10 finishes. He finished second last year.

Last season, Stewart was in the lead for more than half the race, but had to come from behind in the closing laps to grab the win. Jeff Burton ran out of gas with five laps to go, allowing Stewart to take the lead.

Stewart has fallen all the way back to 10th in the Chase this year. He has only one Top-10 in the last five races.

Interesting note - the pole sitter has never won this race.

After this weekend they move on to Phoenix then the season closing race at Homestead.
