Then + Now: Drive-In on Harlem Road in Cheektowaga [VIDEO]
USA, California densly occupied drive-in cinema . Most spectators have chosen to sit in the more comfortable back-seats . 1938 BIZ 9/1938
Just off Harlem Road in Cheektowaga, the Buffalo Drive-In was opened in the Summer of 1941! Originally built by Irving Gandall and Paul Witner. The original capacity was for 900 cars, it then expanded to three screens and a capacity of 1,200 cars in 1974.
Sadly, the Drive-In trend was on the down turn in the decades to come and 2007 marked the final season of the Buffalo Drive-In. The site is now home to a Medical Office Park.
If you have fond memories of the old Buffalo Drive-In, you're sure to enjoy this short video below highlighting the last season in Buffalo. May want to grab a tissue.
