It's been almost a week since we lost one of the most legendary Buffalo sports figures in history.

Longtime Buffalo Sabres' play-by-play man Rick Jeanneret passed away at the age of 81 last Thursday. The news spread quickly in Western New York, as many Sabres fans paid their respect to Rick on social media; through stories and personal experiences of how impactful he was on everyone's life.

RJ was the Buffalo Sabres. He was the voice of Buffalo sports for 50 years.

Many fans want the team to honor Jeanneret in multiple ways, including a statue in alumni plaza. The team will honor him this weekend at KeyBank Center with a specal ceremony.

The Sabres announced that they will be holding an honoring ceremony for Jeanneret this Sunday at 5 pm. They will have a round table from media members and former players, discussing RJ and his legacy.

The event if free for fans to attend.

There will not be a memorial service, out of respect to Rick Jeanneret's family and friends.

This is something that had to happen and I'm sure the entire arena will be packed with Sabres fans who want to celebrate the memory of Jeanneret. He meant so much to this community.
