What a cool place! Not even sure that I wanted to adopt a cat, but Second Chance Sheltering Network made me want to give it a whirl. Every cat they foster comes off the street, so it was such a heart-warming time getting to know the story of each cat.

I sat down to talk with Ashley after she won $500 for her organization through Cellino Plumbing & HVAC's monthly non-profit program. After gathering submissions and having willing Western New Yorkers vote on the finalists, one organization is highlighted and selected to receive support from Cellino Plumbing & HVAC and, of course, WYRK.

I always enjoy learning about the good work in our community, and Ashley dished up some pretty good information. Their team of 30 volunteers has fostered and rescued 373 cats so far this year. They know some of the cats they take in off the streets may never be adopted due to medical or other issues but they are committed to their no-kill status. They strive to give every abandoned or abused cat their best chance.

How fun is it that some of their cats are available at Buckminster’s Cat Cafe in downtown Buffalo? When I decide the time is right for me to adopt, this is the place I'll call.
