Sabres Lock In Fan-Favorite Coach Lindy Ruff For Two More Seasons
The Buffalo Sabres' season has only been over for a couple of days now, but they've already started their offseason with a bang by re-signing their head coach to a contract extension.
Lindy Ruff will be staying in Buffalo
The fan-favorite coach of the Buffalo Sabres has signed a contract extension that will keep him in Buffalo for at least the next two seasons.
It feels like a no-brainer after what Ruff was able to accomplish with this team this season. He was able to bring the Sabres back to the NHL Playoffs for the first time in 15 years. Not only that, but he was able to take this team into overtime in the 7th game of the second round. He literally could not have gotten any closer to the finals without actually being there.
Ruff is a finalist for the Jack Adams Award
For those who aren't hockey fans, the Jack Adams Award is awarded to the coach of the year in the NHL. It's an award that he won in 2005-2006 and has been a finalist of with three different organizations (Buffalo, Dallas, and New Jersey) five times in the past.
One of the craziest things about this year was that they were in last place in December. Then, like a switch was turned on, they won the Atlantic Division and became a real threat to win it all in the playoffs.
It's exciting for Sabres fans who have waited for them to be relevant again. Thanks to Ruff, and some incredible players with heart, they are again. To see more on Ruff and his extension, click here.
