The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's office is warning people to be on the lookout for a scam that tries to scam people for info.

According to WIVB, the warning came from a press release put out by the Sheriff's office claiming that there is someone calling from a Boston, NY phone number and trying to get information from an unknowing victim.

The warning is that the callers claim that they are calling from Olean General Hospital and that the hospital is updating records and request information including social security numbers and bank routing numbers.

"Do not release any personal information or return any calls to this number,” the sheriff’s office warns. “If such a call is received, residents are encouraged to call their local police agency.”

You should never give personal information like that out over the phone.  Always tell someone one the phone that you will come down to the establishment to update your information.
