Watch Out For This Social Security Scam

Another day, another scam to be on the lookout for. This time it's in the form of social security numbers.

According to WKBW, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office has warned residents of a scam going around that is trying to steal personal information.

The scammers call you and claim they are from the Social Security Administration. They ask people to press 1 to assist with further communication that probes them for information.

The actual Social Security Administration says they will never call you and everything in their office is done by mail.

The best thing to do when scammers call you is to ignore or hang up.
