SEE IT: Massive Buck New York State Is Commenting On
The hunting season is underway in New York State and there is one deer that has been taken that is getting plenty of attention.
The archery season is arguably the best time of the year. The weather is cooling off, the leaves are dropping and the whitetail deer are on the move! From Western New York, to the Finger Lakes and beyond, there are hundreds of hunters heading to the woods hoping to score a trophy.
But the truth is, a deer like the one take in Western New York only comes along once in a while and you need to be ready, calm and accurate. That was the case for Gary Sam who was tagged out of the archery season early this October!

This deer, that some in the area labeled as "the freak" is being talked about and the photo is being shared among hunters from all areas of New York State! According to sources we spoke to, it scored: Green score 195-2" and 218" Full bone!
The season is entering it's second week and there have been a few success stories already reported. But, as many hunters know, the best part of the season is yet to come. As we get to Halloween and Veterans Day, the activity peaks and it is the ideal time to be in the woods for archery hunters!
Keep in mind, this year New York State has made a few changes to the laws; specifically the back tag law.
According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and a post on their website: "As a result of a law change, backtags are no longer required while hunting anywhere in New York State".
