A settlement between New York State and the Seneca Nation over a gambling compact dispute will bring millions of dollars to Western New York.

Yesterday New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the state has received the payment from its settlement with the Seneca Nation and that since most of the money was raised in Western New York, that money will be returned to the area.

Governor Hochul stated that around $418 million dollars from the $564 million dollars will be used to construct the Buffalo Bills stadium which is expected to be completed by the Fall of 2026.

The remaining $146 million dollars will be distributed across local governments and agencies in Western New York.

"These funds were generated in Western New York, and I am directing the State's share, which is more than $418 million, to the new Buffalo Bills stadium. This will ensure the Bills remain in New York State and support 10,000 construction jobs. The remainder of the funds will go directly to the counties and cities of Western New York and be reinvested to support the local economy and communities.

The Governor has been working with the Seneca Nation since she took office to get the settlement taken care of and the monies paid to the state.
