More Classics Than Modern Musicals This Year

This past season felt like there were more modern musicals with Hades Town, Beetlejuice The Musical, Six, and Come From Away.  But this year it feels like they've gone to a more classic lineup.  There are a number of classics coming through including Moulin Rouge, Funny Girl, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!, and of course Annie.

Some Of The More Unknown Musicals Coming To Sheas

Some, however, will be less well known like Mrs. Doubtfire and MJ: The Musical.  While many have seen the movie "Mrs. Doubtfire" starring the late Robin Williams,  the musical could be a new one.  Like Beetlejuice, it will be interesting to see how the movie will translate to the stage.  That one will be the first of the new season and will run from September 24-30th, 2023.

Girl From The North Country is a Tony Award winning musical that uses the music of Bob Dylan.  There is a whole story that is centered in Duluth, Minnesota in the middle of the Great Depression.  The bank is ready to foreclose on the property of Nick Laine and he has to find a way to keep his family from homelessness.  That show will run from January 16-21, 2024.

MJ: The Musical will be another one that most people probably haven't seen but will be entertained by.  If you love choreography, dancing, and singing, this could be right up your alley.  It follows Michael Jackson during one of his biggest tours of all time.  Centered around the making of his 1992 Dangerous World Tour, and created by Tony Award-winning Director/Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage.  It'll take place June 11-16, 2024.

This season is going to be huge at Shea's.  Season tickets are available now at Sheas.org, through the Shea's App, or by phone at 716-847-0850.
