Shea’s Buffalo Announces Their 2026-2027 Season Lineup

Musical theater is alive and well in Buffalo and once again Shea's Theater is announcing another exciting season.

Each year before the end of the previous season of shows, Shea's Theater has an event to announce the lineup of upcoming shows for the next season. That event happened last night at Shea's and they've got another full schedule for musical fans here in Western New York.

The shows they've announced are:

Buena Vista Social Club - September 12-19, 2026

Based in Havana, Cuba, this Tony and Grammy award-winning musical follows legendary singer Omara Portuondo, who hasn't entered a recording studio for years. Then, a young record producer gives her a rare opportunity that forces her to reckon with her past.

Alicia Keys' HELL'S KITCHEN - October 27 - November 1, 2026

This is the musical that is inspired by the life, music, and community of pop star Alicia Keys. It's centered around Ali, a 17-year-old girl full of fire, searching for freedom, passion, and her place in the world.

The Great Gatsby - November 10-15, 2026

This is, of course, based on the classic American novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It's a story about the roaring 20's with a contemporary rock score. As in the story, it follows mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby and his pursuit of his former flame, Daisy Buchanan

The Sound of Music - December 8-13, 2026

This Rodgers & Hammerstein classic follows the Von Trapp family as they adjust to life with their quirky nun-turned-nanny Maria. This musical has recently celebrated its 60th anniversary and continues to be one of the most successful movie musicals of all time.

Death Becomes Her - February 16-21, 2027

A high-energy musical comedy about two lifelong "frenemies," who fight over the same man and their fading youth. Expect a ton of physical comedy, over-the-top glamour, and a "savagely funny" take on what happens when a grudge literally lasts for eternity.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - March 31- April 8, 2027

This isn't the Harry Potter that you know. This is the story of Harry's son Albus who teams up with Draco Malfoy's son to go on a traveling adventure. People go nuts trying to figure out how they've magically pulled off some of the things you will see on stage and make the spells feel real.

Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical - June 22 - 27, 2027

I'll let them describe this new Tony Award-winning musical:

"It’s 1943, and the Allies are on the ropes. Luckily, they’re about to gamble our futures on a stolen corpse. Singin’ in the Rain meets Strangers on a Train, it’s the fast-paced, hilarious true story of the secret mission that won WWII."
