Do you have trouble getting your High School kids up early to head into school? Should the school day start later in the morning?

That will be a question that area schools might have to answer after California has become the first state to legally move the start of school to later in the morning.

A new law passed in California will allow students to sleep in a little bit more.

California Governor Gavin Newsom signed the bill into law that mandates that Middle School will start classes at 8 am while High School will start at 8:30 am or later.

The schools will still be allowed to offer optional early classes.

The ruling will go into effect on July 1st, 2022 or when a school's collective bargaining agreement expires.

The move to a later start time for High Schoolers is in line with new research saying that for teenagers to get the most rest, school should not start any earlier then 8:30 am.

Would you be in favor of a later start to school?
