According to WIVB, some restaurants are adding COVID-19 surcharges to bills.

The rising cost of food and the fact that many restaurants have seen the loss of revenue have caused some to implement a surcharge.

This is what one looks like.

This particular surcharge was from Kiko Japanese Steakhouse and Sushi Lounge and the restaurant said they have disclosed the extra charge with numerous signs. They also add that this was deemed a better option than raising prices on their menu.

There have also been reported COVID-19 surcharges added to bills at hair salons and even a dentist's office.

It's difficult to know exactly how many restaurants will have COVID-19 surcharges here in Western New York but in other parts around the country, who currently have fewer restrictions, it's beginning to appear more as a viable option to help restaurants with a difficult bottom line.
