Speaking Of Mariah Carey’s Mess Up – Check Out Patti LaBelle’s Performance at the 1996 White House Tree Lighting [VIDEO]

A clip of this video has been circling Facebook for awhile and when we were talking about Mariah Carey's mess of a performance on New Year's Eve it reminded me of this performance. It was 1996 and Bill Clinton was President. The annual Christmas Tree lighting at the White House was going as planned and then it was Patti's turn. She was introduced and the song started...it all went hilarious downhill from there. However, she handled it the exact opposite way the Mariah Carey handled her flub.

"Where my background singers?" As funny as this video is to watch, it also shows how she just carried on! She didn't know the words so she made some up!!! She did not walk off the stage or sit down, she just kept going!

So who did the mess up better? Mariah or Patti?
