Spoofing Scam Involving Kenmore Police Department Phone Number

The Kenmore Police Department issued a warning to residents about a new scam involving the police department's phone number. Residents have reported getting calls from the police department number and upon answering the phone being asked about unpaid debts or fines. While this is in fact the number for the Kenmore Police it is not the actual department calling residents. The scammers are somehow able to get the police department's number to show up on caller ids as the caller. The police department WILL NEVER contact you via phone in regards to debts or fines. Police are asking residents if they get a call from 716-875-1234 and the caller identifies themselves as a Kenmore Police Officer and it feels suspicious to you, hang up and call the police department back to confirm.
