Is This The Year Steve Tasker Finally Makes It To The Hall Of Fame?
People have been screaming it from the rooftops for years in Buffalo. Steve Tasker belongs in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame. Unfortunately, he is yet to make the final cut, but is this the year he finally does it?
For those who weren't alive in the 90's to watch the Buffalo Bills, they may only know Steve Tasker as a football announcer, and a sports talk show host. But back in the 90's, he was a terror on the field on special teams.
What made Steve Tasker such a great football player?
When a lot of people talk about football, they talk about offense and defense. Very rarely do they talk about the impact that a special teams player can have on a game. You might hear coaches mention it, but it's not normally a huge topic of conversation unless the special teamers are bad.
Steve Tasker was one of those guys that made teams think about him when he was on the field. You couldn't ignore him. You needed to know where he was at all times.
Sometimes you'll find a special teams player that can cover kicks or return punts, but in the case of Tasker, he could do it all. He could cover kicks and block punts too.
He was a 7-time Pro Bowler and a 7-time All-Pro. He made 204 special teams tackles and can brag that he blocked 7 punts. This guy was an animal on that field and made the most of every play he got.
Just watch the timing on this hit:
Tasker has been nominated again to make it into the Hall of Fame
For years now, people have been advocating to get Steve Tasker inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he's certainly been nominated. He's been through 8 nominations so far and hasn't been able to make it past the final hurdle.
This year, he's been nominated again and he just made it one step closer.
Today it was announced that he's made it one step further in the voting process to make it into the 2026 Hall of Fame Class.
Is this the year that Tasker finally makes it to join some of his teammates in wearing that gold jacket?
