Great News For Rochester, An Expansion Is Coming
There is great news for residents in and around Rochester as it was announced this week that an expansion is coming to a local hospital.
According to reports, Strong Memorial Hospital will be getting an upgrade and more space! The project should be completed by 2027. The goal is to significantly increase the size of the emergency department and add more private rooms for patients. A new patient bed tower will also be built west of the hospital's main entrance while the tower that's currently in place will be renovated.
It was just a couple of years ago that ECMC in Buffalo also went through and upgrade. When it comes to emergency care, the new emergency department at ECMC is now an elite location for patient care.
According to a post on their website a few years back, ECMC stated that:
Seventy-eight percent of inpatients at Erie County Medical Center, the Buffalo Niagara region’s Level 1 adult trauma center, come in through the emergency room, and 16 percent rise in demand has prompted the need for a new building with greater capabilities.
It is amazing to see how far we have come since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and how the healthcare industry has responded and evolved. It is comforting to know that here in the Western and Central New York areas, we have some excellent facilities for care and as these expansions take place, the care only gets better!
