Over the weekend, I was having a debate with some of my family and friends about Sunday. Half of the people I was talking to said that Sunday is the start of the week, while the other half said it was the end of the week.

Is Sunday The Start Or End Of The Week?

The main reason people believe that Sunday is the start of the week is that almost every calendar printed starts with Sunday and ends with Saturday. So if you use that calendar, you would think that Sunday is the start of the week.

For me, I think Sunday is the end of the week. If I ask you what you did this "Weekend" you will tell me what you did on Saturday and Sunday. Most people work Monday through Friday, so the start of the week would be Monday, and the weekend, or the last days of the week, would be Saturday and then Sunday.

So who is right? Well, that is still up for debate. If you look up the definition of Sunday in the Webster-Merriam dictionary, it reads as:  the first day of the week.

According to the International Organization for Standardization, Sunday is the 7th day of the week, making it the last day of the week.
