I've seen lots of things get named.  It's not out of the ordinary for someone to name their pets.  Heck, when we were kids, we had a bike that was called Big Bertha.  She was huge.  I mean...there was an age limit for her. But something that I'm finding is that it's NOT uncommon for people to name their cars!

It's how they determine those names that interests me.  When I was a kid, we had a car that was called Norabel.  My sister came up with the name by taking the model of the car and spelling it backwards.  Yep...it was a Chrysler LeBaron.  It worked for that car and actually gave it  a bit of a personality.

Now that I'm an adult, I've got a minivan that we call "The Mothership."  We got that name from somebody who rode in the van once.  She was impressed with all the buttons and switches.

I've heard of people who name them based on their color.  That makes sense.  Dierks Bentley has an old Chevy Silverado that he owns called "Big White".  But how do people determine if they're male or female?

The only time I really find myself naming my cars is when they're running low on gas or when they're stuck in the snow.  That's when I start bargaining with them, "if you make it to the gas station up the street there, I'll fill you up."

Do you have a name for your car?  How did you come up with it?
