The Remains of Two Human Bodies Found in WNY
There's a continuing development taking place right now in Western New York, regarding the remains of two human bodies that have been discovered in the past 24 hours.
Yesterday afternoon, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office released a press release stating that possible remains of a human body were discovered in a wooded area off Woleben Rd. in the Town of Portland. The remains were discovered by a hiker.
Today, the remains of another human body were discovered in Chautauqua County.
According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, they were investigating the remains of a human body found near the Rails of Trails in the Town of Portland. Those remains are believed to be of a female and were taken Mercyhurst Anthropology Lab in Erie, Pennsylvania for further study.
While searching the area they found another set of remains of a human body. Those human remains were also taken to Mercyhurt for study, As of now, there is no indication of gender or age, but authorities believe the first set of remains has been in the area much longer than the second set of remains.
As of now, the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is still in the wooded area near Woleben Rd. in Portland investigating.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is now investigating cold cases and missing person's cases, per WGRZ. There are currently seven missing persons cases in Chautauqua County.
Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone says they are focused on the cases of three missing people at the moment: 28-year-old Patricia Laemmerhirt (went missing in 1976), 36-year-old Corrie Anderson (went missing in 2008), and 26-year-old Lori Bova (went missing in 1997).
