Phantom Fireworks says there is going to be a shortage of fireworks this year.

That does not mean that there are going to be no fireworks at all, but the top-selling firework company in the United States is warning people that a shortage could happen as we get closer to the 4th of July.

What are they saying? Buy your fireworks early this year!

There is a supply chain issue going on, of course, still because of earlier COVID problems. That is part of the problem and when you see that firework sales have hit an all-time high, you may just see the shortage. Last year, in 2020, a record for the number of fireworks purchased was hit.

Like many other industries, the fireworks industry has also experienced delays due to shipment challenges facing the global market,” said Alan L. Zoldan, Phantom Executive Vice President.

Being from New York, you probably had to go across into Pennsylvania or Ohio to get big fireworks. Technically, it is illegal to buy fireworks in New York State, which seems fishy because you see and hear them all of the time or you see the tents outside of Walmart or TOPS that sell them.

As of right now, the only 'firework' that is legal for purchase is a sparkling device, which is a broad category.

Don't worry though, a lot of big 4th of July celebrations are happening this year, even if some of them were cancelled due to the pandemic last year! Take a look at 7 celebrations that are officially happening in your area for 2021! Where do you go watch the fireworks around Buffalo each year?
