It looks like the deer will be on the move most often between October 15 and the end of the first week in November.

When the leaves start to change and the days become shorter there is something that all drivers should be ready for, the movement of whitetail deer.

As a person who loves to hunt, I have noticed that the amount of car-deer related accidents seem to increase as well during late October and early November. For those who may not pay attention as closely as I have, it also means that deer are on the move most often around this time of the year.

What as hunters know as "the rut" is that time of the year when the buck deer are starting to chase after, and seek out, the female deer (doe). Mating season as it’s plainly referred to as by most people has arrived.

But what is the peak time for all of this to take place? I have been reading a bunch of different wildlife and hunting websites and they all seem to agree on the moon phases for this year to be a very specific time for the deer to be on the go.

Buck deer can’t help themselves and Will be searching for and chasing after the doe mostly in this time frame. The deer chase is exciting to witness but it is very likely that the deer will wander or dart out in front of your vehicle before you have a chance to react.
