Think Health Insurance Is Too Expensive? Here’s Why
If you've thought that health insurance premiums are going thru the roof, especially in New York State, you're not alone. In a survey of the 50 states and the District of Columbia, health insurance premiums in New York were the 49th highest in the country.
According to the latest research by the personal finance website WalletHub, the average American spends $10,000 a year on personal health care. WalletHub dug into the problem of high health care cost by comparing the 50 states and D-C across 35 parameters of cost, accessibility and outcome.
New York State ranked as one of the highest in monthly premium cost, but in terms of access to health care professionals and treatment New York ranked ninth best. In terms of most physicians per capita, New York was fourth.
When they crunched all the numbers the best state for overall health care was Hawaii. The worst was Louisiana. Here's the complete report:
