This Week, We Remember The Soldiers Who Are No Longer With Us As Our Hometown Heroes
It is time once again to honor our local soldiers with our Hometown Heroes segment brought to you by Keller Chevrolet and Batavia Downs gaming. Today we take a moment to recognize the soldiers who are no longer with us on this Memorial Day weekend.
These are the soldiers who have been nominated as our Hometown Hero but are no longer with us. Obviously there are many more that have made our country proud in their lifetime. However, these are the ones who have been nominated. We want to remember them all this weekend.
US Army Sgt. Shaina Schmigel
Sgt. Schmigel lost her life during a paratrooper exercise with the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on May 30. Sgt. Schmigel was a former Medina High School student who loved her life as a paratrooper. She had already served one tour in Iraq.
