This week’s Hometown Hero is a guy who has followed in his brother’s footsteps to defend our country. Originally from Lockport, our Hometown Hero is 29-year-old Technical Sergeant Brett Johnson!

TSgt Johnson joined the Air Force National Guard in January of 2003. His desire was to follow in his older brother, Christopher Johnson's footsteps, who was also in the United States Air Force and had deployed to the Middle East. Brett, who is also a Rapids Volunteer Fireman as 3rd Assistant Chief, is married to Sarah Johnson and is the father to daughters, Abagail and Kaydon Johnson. He has served a tour of duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and has also supported many missions for the NY National Guard, including Superstorm Sandy. TSgt Johnson continues to make his family and friends proud by all he does for his country and community.

Thank you Brett for everything you’ve done for our country and your community from everyone here at WYRK.  We are proud to call you this week’s Hometown Hero!

If you would like to nominate someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them on WYRK.com, but we’ll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.
