Each week we recognize and honor the soldiers who are fighting for our freedom or have done their time and helped to protect us in the past. Along with that, we recognize that it takes a huge sacrifice from the family as well.  Today’s Hometown Hero is 24 year old Army Sergeant Errick Vedder.

Errick is originally from Yorkshire.  His incredibly proud parents Rick and Tracy Vedder nominated him.  A Class of 2007 graduate from Pioneer High School, Errick joined the army in the time of war in February of 2010. He is a combat engineer and is stationed in New Mexico.

Bravery could be defined as doing the right thing regardless of the consequences.  Errick knew when he joined the army that he would be in heavy combat missions.  He signed up anyway.  Now, Errick is currently on his second deployment in Afghanistan. He enjoys the army and is very proud to be protecting his fellow Americans.  His parents say, “We couldn’t be more proud of him, so please mention Errick one of these Fridays.”

Today is your day Errick.  Thank you so much for all that you’ve already sacrificed for our safety.  We are proud to call you this week’s Hometown Hero.

If you would like to remember or honor someone who is currently serving our country or has served in the past, click the button below. We will choose a new Hometown Hero each Friday. If their name is chosen, we will not only feature them on WYRK.com, but we’ll be sure to thank them for their service on the air and dedicate the first song on Noon Tunes to them.

Once again, thank you to Sergeant Errick Vedder, our Hometown Hero of the week!
