Famous Buffalo Tavern is Changing Its Menu
Buffalo is known for the Bills, Sabres, snow and food.
The food aspect of Buffalo is something many of us are proud of. Many times a visitor comes into Western New York and is blown away by the wings, beef on weck, pizza and other Buffalo delicacies, such as sponge candy.
The diverse food options are what make Western New York special; Italian, Polish, Mexican, German, Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean and other cuisine make up the food scene.
There are also very old restaurants and bars that have been serving the community for decades, and in the case of Ulrich's Tavern in the City of Buffalo, over 150 years.
Ulrich's is the oldest bar in Buffalo, serving residents since 1868 and they have been known for German food. That will be changing, however, and they have good reasons for it.
Buffalo Business First is reporting that Ulrich's Tavern will be switching their menu from German-American food to Italian-focused menu, with deli sandwiches and thin-crust pizza.
The kitchen will turn into Sal's Italian Deli. The bar and the dining room will remain the same though, which must be stressed.
Salvatore Buscaglia, Ulrich's owner, says that German food "isn't as sought after" nowadays and they need a menu which fits the working crowd in that part of Buffalo.
Ulrich's Tavern is worth a visit if you have never been. The fact it has been going strong for 150-plus years is such a remarkable feat and hopefully Ulrich's is open for another 150 years.
