Verizon Offering Refund To Customers Affected By Outage In New York
Yesterday, Verizon customers experienced a nationwide outage that left many customers asking if they would be getting a refund. Today, it appears as though they will.
The outage lasted 10 hours
While customers all across New York state were affected, it wasn't just a local outage. Verizon said it was nationwide. It affected customers across the country for around 10 hours. It began affecting wireless voice and data services around noon eastern time and wasn't resolved until around 10:20 PM, leaving customers without the use of many services that they were paying for.
Verizon admits it didn't match the standard they set for themselves
A lot of people were upset and went online to ask if they were going to get a refund for the services that they paid for but weren't receiving.
Verizon agreed that they needed to do better in a post on X, shortly after the outage began.
Verizon is now offering a $20 credit to customers who were affected
Today, they've announced that they will be giving people a credit of $20 on their next bill to make up for the services lost throughout the day yesterday.
"We are sorry for what you experienced and will continue to work hard day and night to provide the outstanding network and service that you expect from Verizon."
What do you need to do to get the credit?
According to the message sent out from Verizon you will just have to wait for a text message from Verizon confirming that your credit is ready. Then that text message will guide you on the next steps you will need to take to redeem your credit through the myVerizon app.
