Vintage Military Planes To Fly Over WNY Saturday + Sunday
If you missed the US Air Force planes flying over the WNY area on Tuesday, there is good news! Especially if you are a history buff or fan of vintage planes!
It was so emotional and surreal to see the videos of the jets that flew over the hospitals to salute our front-line care givers and workers and volunteers. To see how people gathered as if they were watching an aerial parade was amazing! From parking lots to rooftops, we gathered 6 feet apart to see an exciting , yet brief flyover. It's about to happen again.
The National Warplane Museum in Geneso,NY is expected to do a similar flyover this weekend! That is great news for those of us who love the planes from our Nation's history.
Operation "Thanks From Above" will take place this weekend and cover a large area of Western and Central New York! According to a post on their website a historic series of flyovers in Western New York led by our Douglas C-47 affectionately named Whiskey 7 over the weekend of May 16th and 17th.
They fly low and slow enough that it should make for some great videos and photos! My father was a history teacher and every year we would wait for the old planes to fly over our house or see them from a high point like Chestnut Ridge Park. They have a great sound and will give you chills as they salute the men and women who are working so hard to help save lives!
